Onion Bhajis

Amazing traditionally made onion bhajis, great for your starter. Simple and easy and very tasty, the teenagers love them.
Stuff you will need
- 2 medium-sized onions, sliced
- 2 green birds eye chilis sliced
- a handful of fresh coriander chopped
- oil for frying
- half teaspoon of salt
Method
- Heat the oil in a large pan over a medium/high heat
- Put sliced onion into a large bowl along with 1/4 tsp salt.
- Add both bags of Qurry spices, chillies and coriander to the onions and stir.
- Add water a tablespoon at a time until the batter sticks to the onions.
- Test the oil
- Add one slice of onion to the pan, if it immediately starts to fizzle the oil is ready.
- With 2 tablespoons scoop 1 tablespoon full and slide the bhaji mix into the pan with the other.
- Make in batches of 5-6 at a time.
- Fry the bhajis until golden brown turning only once.
- When cooked transfer onto kitchen paper and enjoy.
This goes great with Raita. Below is our homemade raita recipe.
- To a bowl add
- 200g of natural yoghurt
- 1 fresh tomato (finely diced)
- 1/4 of a cucumber (finely diced)
- 1/2 a fresh onion (finely diced)
- 1tps of mint (fresh or dried)
- 1 tsp of coriander (fresh is best)
- 1/4 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp coriander powder
- Mix all together and chill in the fridge
- Serve with Bhajis
